Markers locate programmes or reporting institutions, not the full extent of their impact. Unmarked countries mean no entry in this edition, not no AI activity.

📰 Source-led briefing Selected developments and dated background

15 original map evidence records, retained with their source-check dates. The research, country and university directories add separate source records. Map filters apply only to this map and briefing.

Source coverage

Loading saved coverage…

These are separate record sets and can overlap. They are not a total of countries, institutions or current events. Unlisted locations remain coverage gaps.

Source checks: 10–11 October 2026. Interface review: 3 November 2026. Connected RSS, Atom and API feeds: 0.

Sources

Original research, official programmes and attributed reporting from this edition. New directories display their direct sources, verification dates, eligibility and limitations on each card. The register below covers the original 15 map records. Each entry retains its own evidence period and source-check date; a check date is not a claim of live monitoring.

Safety case sources

The three historical safety cases link directly to Replit’s 29 July 2025 acknowledgement and Jason Lemkin’s account, OpenAI’s 24 March 2023 postmortem, and Google’s 23 February 2024 explanation. These are a separate case selection, not additions to the 15 map evidence records.

World-map geometry

Natural Earth public-domain geometry. Markers show approximate locations of programmes or reporting institutions, not the full extent of their impact. Source publications retain their original rights.

Methodology

Selective coverage, not a ranking. University and national directories identify official research descriptions and programme announcements, not independently verified outcomes. Unlisted countries, institutions and military programmes are coverage gaps. Newly inspected sources are dated 11 October 2026; the original map and historical safety cases retain 10 October checks. No three-hour collection, automatic weekly export or live feed is running.

This first edition is a manually checked source-led briefing. It does not have automatic live news ingestion or a scheduled refresh. Source filters change the records displayed; they do not query an AI model or incur AI-token charges.

Academic research, official programmes and provider announcements are labelled separately. Company benchmarks and government plans are attributed to their publishers. Open-weight models, open-source software and publicly readable research are different things. The model/access filter labels these separately; “Public evidence” describes the source material, not a model licence.

Employment figures retain geography, period and measurement type. Announced reductions are not proof of completed layoffs or AI as the sole cause. No overlapping totals are added together. Military coverage describes public policy and documented programmes; unknown adoption percentages remain unknown.

Publication dates, evidence periods and our source-check date are distinct. A recently checked older source does not become a new development. Coverage is selective and can be expanded with additional verified sources. Job-creation coverage currently consists of employer forecasts, not verified counts of AI-created jobs.
